City of Atlanta - Adams Park Recreation Center
Adams Park is located in the southwest part of our city in one of Atlanta's oldest neighborhoods. It is part of the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs. The park includes a basketball gym, softball fields, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a football field on 37 acres of land.

Adamsville Recreation Center acts as a sports facility for the community including a pool, gym, auditorium, and banquet rooms. It's located in the Adamsville neighborhood on the west side of Atlanta near the junction of 285 and I-20.

The Capitol View neighborhood, located directly south of downtown, has a community garden which helps feed neighbors and provide recreational activities for it's residents.

The Chosewood Park neighborhood is close to downtown in southeast Atlanta. The community features several older homes, a community park, and a few other local parks.

Edwin Place Park is located off Donald L. Hollowell Parkway in west Atlanta. The 4.5 acre park is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

The Old Fourth Ward is the area anchored by the MLK Historic District, bounded by downtown Atlanta on the West, Ponce de Leon on the North, DeKalb Ave on the South, and the BeltLine on the East. Historic Fourth Ward Park will be a 35-acre Atlanta greenspace stretching roughly from North Avenue to Freedom Parkway. It is the first new Atlanta BeltLine park.

Memorial Park covers 69 acres of undeveloped land offering a recreation field, playground, and busy jogging trail. During September 2009, the park was flooded and still has lots of debris in and around it's creek.

The Mozley Park District is a typical early 20th-century residential neighborhood, located approximately three miles west of downtown Atlanta. The community is named after the original landowner, Dr. Hiram Mozley. Most of the homes were built between 1920-1940. The community contains a park and Stanton Elementary School.

Proctor Street is part of the English Avenue neighborhood in southwest Atlanta. The English Avenue community was founded in the 1890's and named after a former Atlanta mayor, James W. English. Today, the neighborhood is working towards revitalization.

The South Atlanta community, originally called Brownsville, is a historic African-American neighborhood. The neighborhood was created and designed by Clark University (now Clark Atlanta University) and Gammon Theological Seminary.

Tanyard Creek Park is located at Collier Road and Walthall Drive in Collier Hills neighborhood. The park is 14.5 acres with historic markers, a historic mill site across Collier Road, an overlook, creek, and playscape.

Thomasville Heights is located about 5 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta. The community has a park, recreation center, library, elementary school, and is home to the Starlight Drive-In Theatre.

The Urban Villa neighborhood is located in west Atlanta near I-20 and W. Lake Avenue. The community includes White Elementary School and is nearby Lincoln Cemetery.

Oakland Cemetery
Oakland Cemetery (1850), is a municipal burial ground owned and operated by the City of Atlanta, Department of Parks, and Recreation and Cultural Affairs. Oakland is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was recognized in November 2009 by Forbes magazine as one of the best city parks in the United States.

Wesley Community Centers, Inc., is a 107-year old agency that serves grassroots human and community needs in Metro Atlanta. Atlanta Union Mission - Carpenter's House
Atlanta Union Mission is a Christian ministry that brings Christ's healing power to individuals in crisis through programs of rescue and recovery, including emergency shelter, residential recovery, and transitional housing. Carpenter's House was formerly a men's shelter. It was flooded in the fall of 2009 and is currently being re-purposed.

Atlanta Union Mission - Fuqua Hall
Atlanta Union Mission is a Christian ministry that brings Christ's healing power to men in crisis through programs of rescue and recovery, including emergency shelter, residential recovery, and transitional housing. Fuqua Hall is their men's transitional housing program located in downtown Atlanta. It houses 88 men as they transition from homelessness to independence.

Atlanta Union Mission - My Sister's House
Atlanta Union Mission is a Christian ministry that brings Christ's healing power to men in crisis through programs of rescue and recovery, including emergency shelter, residential recovery, and transitional housing. Their Howell Mill Road Campus, My Sister's House, is the Mission's full service center for women and children. The campus houses 136 women and children in nightly emergency shelter. It also houses 128 women and children in the Mission's residential recovery program.

Atlanta Union Mission - The Shepherd's Inn
Atlanta Union Mission is a Christian ministry that brings Christ's healing power to men in crisis through programs of rescue and recovery, including emergency shelter, residential recovery, and transitional housing. The Shepherd's Inn is their men's emergency shelter located in downtown Atlanta. It provides hot meals, shower facilities, clean clothes and beds for up to 218 men daily. The Shepherd's Inn also houses up to 98 men for the first phase of the residential addiction recovery program, which lasts four to six weeks.

Buckhead Christian Ministry
Buckhead Christian Ministry is a faith-based, non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance to individuals and families. BCM places special emphasis on preventing homelessness through education and the provision of food, clothing, and financial assistance to families and individuals in crisis. BCM also provides long term assistance for working parents and their children through a transitional housing program and money management courses.

Clifton Sanctuary Ministries
Clifton Sanctuary Ministries provides year-round transitional housing services and comprehensive life skills counseling to homeless men who are seeking independent living and self- sufficiency. They also provides short term emergency shelter for men that are sick, elderly, disabled, living with HIV/AIDS, living with mental health, recovering from drug/alcohol addiction. APS - Woodson Elementary
Carter G. Woodson Elementary School is an urban school located in the Grove Park community of west Atlanta, two miles from downtown. It's part of the Atlanta Public School system. Woodson strives to equip students to graduate from college as well as prepares them to become contributing citizens, international scholars, and catalysts of societal change. Of the students enrolled at Woodson, 95% of the population is eligible for free or reduced lunch, which is an indication of low income.
